It's not that easy

It's so long since the last time I've written, a week maybe or two. The truth is that nothing interesting has happened these days. I feel like I'm living Groundhog Day movie, all days seem to be the same, but that doesn't mean that I'm depressed, on the contrary, I'm taking advantage of everyday minutes, reading, exercising, writing, and of course, looking for a job. This last thing is the only thing that is getting on my nerves. I know I'll get a job, sooner or later, but after I've got used to earning money, spending my savings for living is what I can't stand. I wish for a job that lets me do what I want to, and this is writing. I like to write a lot, many things I have in my head, and at the perfect time, I write them in my personal blog. I'm writing a story about an old mariner and a book in which I describe all my desires for the city where I live. It's not that easy either. It is not only sitting and writing. Maybe, you have a lot of t...

10K

As I told you before, yesterday was the marathon I participated in. It began at 6:30 am and I was astonished by the number of people there. It was huge! At least 3 blocks were full of people. According to the newspaper, there were about 18,000 participants. I went with my brother and first, we wanted to get to the front rows, but it was impossible because of the crowded streets. At the beginning of the race, it was a bit difficult to get your rhythm, we were so cramped, and only after the second kilometer I felt more comfortable running. In comparison with the last marathon I ran, this time I felt surer of myself, don't know why, just knew that my time would be better than the last time, and it was. When I was reaching the final line, the clock marked 59 minutes and 30 seconds so I sped up and passed the line in 59 minutes and 50 seconds (according to the clock) but when I saw my smart band, it was marking 57 minutes and then I remembered that at the beginning of the race the clock...

Bumble

About two weeks ago I downloaded a dating App Called Bumble and met some women there. Not so many, but I’ve been talking with two in particular. One is a psychologist and the other is a teacher. I think both have very interesting conversation topics. Of course, I really like to know interesting people, but in the related whit knowing women I always had this problem with very smart ones. It is like I feel overwhelmed because I think maybe I’m not smart enough and I'll be going to spoil a conversation. On the other hand, I start thinking that maybe this is the issue I need to resolve. I’m a grown man and I need to stop thinking like a kid. Although I always have had self-confidence, I need to work the most on this particular issue. So, that is the reason why I invited one of them for a coffee next week. I hope I don't spoil it. Even though I suggested that she chose the place, she told me to choose. So, we are going to go to a cafe not so far from my home. This will be the first ...

Saturday's cycling

Ok, I know, my bad, but don’t be upset, it’s only been two days since my last post. And to be honest, nothing special happened this past weekend. On Saturday, as usual, my brother and I went biking. This is a special day for me, I mean Saturdays, because, although we exercise every day, only on Saturdays do we work out together by cycling. We depart early, but not so early, at 10 am approximately, because first, we get breakfast. We usually go to a fancy neighborhood called Casuarinas which is located on a hill. So, the path is all upwards, very steep, and this makes our training very hard. All the way is in a zigzag and the last part isn’t asphalted until we reach a water tower, that’s the end of the path.  I still remember the first time we went on this path. I assure you, hardly anyone can reach the top of the hill the first time without getting off the bicycle. If you want to reach the top, all the way on the bicycle, first you need to do this several times, at least four times...

Movies night

Although have slept late, I woke up feeling tired. I know that there are many people who the same thing happens sometimes. Wake up thinking that you have rested so much, but immediately put your foot on the ground and you feel tired again. Some people say that it depends on what you do before going to sleep. For example, if you eat something heavy or if you keep watching your cell phone late, this affects your dream, and you don't rest properly... Maybe you sleep but do not rest. And that is the reason I feel so tired because last night I saw a couple of movies. I made popcorn before watching the movies and I think it was too much popcorn for only one person. Nonetheless, I enjoyed both movies. Actually, I realize that it has been a long time since I watched more than one movie in a row, normally it is only one movie and then a tv series or news, but this time it was two movies and then I fell asleep. After enjoying these two excellent movies with such immersive stories, I started ...

My IELTS results

I just got back from getting my results for the IELTS test I took last week. It wasn't a surprise for me because I had already seen the results on the web. I can’t say that I'm satisfied with my results since I'm the kind of person who always wants to give the most. This is important because it is one of the many documents I need to present to the Canadian Embassy … Maybe I forgot to tell you this part… Yes, I want to immigrate to Canada for many reasons (it’s not worth discussing the reasons here), and demonstrating my English level is just one of many other documents you need to present. Overall, my English level is good (6.5 from 9), but I do need to improve my writing (it is why I'm doing this blog) and of course, keep practicing listening and speaking. In the meantime, it is essential to stay focused on the aim. I mean, maybe this will take me a little time… I'm waiting for my master’s degree, and I don't know how much time this will take… So, the idea is t...

My method

Recently I started to look for some new and particular ways to improve my writing English. The thing I'm doing currently is this; I am reading a book written in English called “The Diary of Anne Frank” and underline every word I don’t know. Then, after finding their significance, I use these unfamiliar words in my diary. In addition, I'm reading some English theories and trying to combine these two methods in this blog. I know it sounds a bit complex, but I try to find the enjoyable side. For example, I love to read, actually, I already read Anne Frank's Diary but in Spanish, so this gives me the opportunity to have a new look at the story. Meanwhile, I'm keeping occupied on the internet searching for some theories like: Cleft sentences,  Non–finite clauses Inversion of emphasis Participle clauses Mixed conditionals Inverted conditionals Relative clauses Passive voice Hedging Impersonal language and the list goes on and on… I hope these ideas can help you if you are try...
